Show and Tell: Forget your sorrows and laugh
Show and Tell.
In my last blog post I shared Gilda’s Series, a tribute to my grandmother. The following week, I was riding to New York with my wife and my Aunt (Gilda’s daughter) and uncle. We talked about Grandma a lot on that ride, and I said something about her laugh and her voice being so unique. Her laugh was SO unique, it will forever be ingrained in my memory. That’s a powerful thing. Her spirit will live inside me, and I will never forget the sound of her laughter, ever.
Laughter and photography go hand in hand. In most portrait situations it’s what I hope for, it lets out the unique spirit of a person. It always amazes me how a photograph can evoke certain emotions. Laughter can turn a photograph into something magical, an otherworldly dream. It’s an act of human nature that we all share, some of us more often than others. It calms tense situations, starts friendships, breaks silence. Laughter eases the soul. Think about some of your friends and loved ones. Think about some of the most unforgettable laughs, remember them, ingrain them in your psyche, for you shall never know when you need them. In times of trouble or sadness, think about the good times and laugh.
