Artist  Statement
I base my photography in the streets and towns around Leeds, a city in the North of England.

I aim to photograph space. It may be the space between a person and a wall or the space between darkness of a cast shadow and the lightness of a street lamp. I am interested in observing people in their daily surroundings and I strive to construct graphic imagery from the combination of people and architecture.

These subjects may be universal but to me they are very much local. I want to celebrate the ordinary, sometimes this is by seeking out the remarkable within normal life and other times by showing life for what it is. Here I set out to candidly document people in a grounded way, I want these photographs to be ‘of their place’ and the people within them, to be part of the surroundings they are moving through.

I am a member of AMPT (Advanced Mobile Photography Team) and contribute to We Are Juxt.
