Have you ever met an italian girl from Catania, Italy who shoots with her Ipad and her fav Hipstamatic combo a series about nude backs of people she knows?

It’s a marvelous story of PURE mobile photography, Hipstamatic teaching one-two-three, iPads and love for portraits.

It’s a story from The Minimals, discovering the NAKED, HIDDEN, INTIMATE aspects of mobile arts.

I have always adored images portraying backs or backs-necks that emphasized the subject’s profile. I love imagining the relationship between models and photographer as being as trustful as possible.

Thinking about photos of backs I immediately decided to ask people I love to pose for my iPad’s camera, promising them to delete everything that they did not like.

Seeing people overcome their inhibitions to pose for my camera, and witnessing them placing their total trust in me was a wonderful and fascinating experience.

Friends, nieces and nephews that I’ve seen growing up, beautiful bodies, with all their imperfections, totally trusted my choices for their posing .

In each photo I attempted to emphasize the qualities I most admired in the models. Fragility, strength, humor, sweetness, new love-stories and old ones, the special complicity between sisters, the peculiar relationship between a mother and a daughter or between a father and a son, practicing the same sport.

Most of all, I tried to accentuate that special feature I see in them and that I am endlessly grateful for that they posed so naturally, their trust for me.

The choice of using hipstamatic was simple since I have used it for almost 70% of my photos.

I greatly appreciate the opportunity to create different combinations of lenses, camera’s and film so effortlessly.

This series has been the product of many experiments; the only common element has been the format of the black and white. After long I found the perfect combination: the James M lense and the Rock BW-11 film.

Ho sempre amato i ritratti che propongono come soggetti le schiene o le nuche enfatizzando i profili. Immaginando il rapporto fra i modelli ed il pittore come pura complicità ed assoluta fiducia.

Quando ho iniziato a pensare una serie di fotografie sulle schiene mi è venuto spontaneo chiedere alle persone a me più care di aiutarmi offrendosi alla camera del mio iPad , con l’ovvia promessa ” se non ti piace la cancello immediatamente” .

È stato interessante e molto bello scoprire quante persone, superate le prime inibizioni, abbiamo avuto fiducia in me e nel mio sguardo.

Alla fine di questa serie dopo aver ripreso, amici , nipoti , ragazzi che conosco da anni e che ho visto crescere, corpi molto belli ed altri imperfetti ma tutti con la costante della fiducia nei miei confronti , nella posa che avevo scelto per loro.

Ho cercato di far uscire per ogni persona quello che più mi è caro , l’aspetto più fragile quello determinato, l’umorismo la tenerezza , i nuovi amori e le storie ormai consolidate, la complicità fra sorelle la relazione fra madre e figlie , padre e figlio uniti dallo sport.

Sopratutto ho cercato di far trasparire quello che io vedo in loro ringraziandoli per la naturalezza con la quale accettando di posare per me si sono affidati ai miei occhi.

La scelta di fare tutte le foto con hipstamatic è stata abbastanza naturale , di norma il 70% dei miei scatti viene fatto con questa camera.

Amo l’opportunità che offre nella sperimentazione delle varie combinazioni fra lenti e camera. Anche per questa serie inizialmente ho sperimentato, l’unica costante era l’idea del bw poi ho finalmente trovato il combo perfetto per quello che stavo cercando la lente James m pellicola rock bw – 11
