Fletch:
Stumbling on Susan’s work is a little like stumbling down a rabbit hole out in the woods and coming out in an alternate world. You’re not sure where you are, you think you can make out some familiar shapes, and you’re not quite sure what’s going on. But the images make you want to stay down there for a while and get to know the place and the character.

TITLE: ~throat as white as the throat of a swan~
APPS USED: Slow Shutter, Camera+, Art of Blur, Blender, ScratchCam, Cameramatic

I live in the Maine woods, which I draw from daily for artistic inspiration. I tend to explore portraiture in my iPhoneography works, using myself as the model for nearly all the shots, mostly because it’s convenient. I don’t think of these pieces as self-portraits, but rather as portraits of characters that I invent. I have a closet full of costumes and props that I use to create each persona. ~throat as white as the throat of a swan~ is part of a mini series called ~Wood Land~ that I shot in the woods outside my door — and I still have some nasty, strange bug bites that I can’t identify to show for it:) I do have an affinity for the macabre and enjoy playing around with this little fascination in my iPhoneography
work, alongside exploration of human emotion, connection to something beyond ourselves, human form, expression, movement, and sensuality. I photo-manipulated the Wood Land series while listening to _Apocalyptica_, the Helsinki, Finland quartet of classically trained cellists that will blow your socks off when they play Metallica!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjXFRSuSnh4&feature=related
