A Showcase of Heather aka @heddagabler77
Fletch:
I look forward to new posts from Heather aka @heddagabler77 on IG. She is a self portrait artist and she loads her images with feeling, emotion, and symbolism. I’ve also come to appreciate poetry a lot more. She always seems to find the perfect words for her shots which could easily stand up on their own. But with the added words they really hit me hard.
And this shot is no exception. There is something about the addition of these hounds that fill the frame with a whole new level of tension.

Heather:
“I was trying to create a sense of loneliness within this image and, somehow, having my dogs beside me in a stark room just kind of screams lonesome to me. It would be fair to say that I’ve been using my Instagram account as a means to explore self-portraits and emotions and combine that with my love of poetry. And, well, healing comes into play as well. When it comes down to it, I’m just a lady in a dimly lit room somewhere in the land of corn trying to figure this business of living out one photograph at a time, I guess. Sometimes failing. Sometimes connecting. Always trying.”

Thankyou Fletch & wearejuxt.com for featuring me! You’ve just made my weekend. And I feel a little less lonely, somehow.
Thanks for the support. ~h
I also look forward to Heather’s posts. Her work is by turns unsettling, disturbing, comforting, evocative, pain-drenched, and thought-provoking. There is a difference between being a talented photographer and an artist, and imo, Heather is the latter.
