Allison Moore: In A Day

I am endlessly fascinated with people and people watching and thought it would be fun to see a snapshot of life for one day as seen through the lens of different people from all over the world and from all walks of life.

This a new series documenting mobile photographers in a day’.

I’ll aim to post a new series of photos from a different photographer every other week and you can follow all the photographers taking part in the series >>Here.

This time, our series takes us from Houston, Texas to California and we spend one day with Allison Moore. Take a walk in her shoes for one day and see how things look through the lens of her iPhone.

We just moved to my hometown in California from England. It feels like we have been moving for months…I still have things in suitcases! This morning, I will finally put them away. Or so I tell myself…I’ve been saying that for days.

Breakfast. I have been trying to eat unprocessed foods this month, which is pretty boring because I am not much of a cook in the first place. I don’t think coffee is unprocessed, but I’m not counting that!

Its the mundane things that make the world go round. My daughter Justine and I watching the laundry.

Time to take Maki to school. He is in Middle School this year and likes it. I think it reminds him of the schools in American TV shows he has watched. He loves not wearing a uniform and carrying a massive backpack.

The Hardware Store. I have been here every day this week, buying paint for the walls. Today, we are buying lumber to build a wall, hoping to split a bedroom into an office for my husband. I love how both Spanish and English are posted everywhere.

We have had internet setup complications in our new house so I pop over to my parent’s house in the next town to use their wifi. It’s so great being close to my parents again! This is a peek into my dad’s studio.

Back to painting the walls. This colour is for my daughter’s room. I am hoping to paint some clouds and birds on the wall eventually. I need some fresh work in my mural portfolio anyway.

Already time to pick up Maki. Looks like it’s been a long day for him. But if he finishes his homework early, we can go down to the beach…

…which everyone loves, of course.

Between all of this, I continue to paint the walls. At the end of the day, I can relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the fact I’ve finished something.

  1. Thanks so much for taking part in the series, Allison.

It was fascinating for me to see how your life is now compared to what it was probably like in England! I have to say, I am jealous of the lovely weather, that’s for sure! =)

    • Thanks Jo! I loved thinking about my day a little but differently in your project. What a fun idea, thanks for including me. Guess what!? We finally have Internet now! Hooray! Life can now continue as usual!

  2. I love these!!!! Wonderful and inspiring…

  3. That is one very full day! My favorite shot was watching the laundry and the comparison to the world going round! Brilliant. And, of course, love the beach photos! Amazed that you could somehow get painting in amidst everything else:)

    • Thanks! I can be a bit obsessive about paint. In fact I’m still painting the house a week later…and probably will be next week. Maybe i shouldn’t have taken on every single room! Something about it is helping me “claim this new space” and i find it helps ground me in this new season of life. I appreciate your comment about the laundry…I like your interpretation of that. Thanks for reading.

  4. I just love every bit of this project and each and every day of people I know, I know a little, I don’t know at all but live in the same planet and start their day at some point and finish it at another point and so on…

  5. i am catching up on this series jo and its so fantastic! love the feeling of seeing through their eyes
