1000 Words Showcase, Week 16
So here we are, the first showcase of Lucky ’13! The new year’s inaugural edition includes works from Ade Santora, xxfromneptune and Pirmin Föllmi.
Big thanks for contributing to our Flickr group, 1000 Words. We hope to showcase the great diversity and beauty of the work shown to continue to inspire other mobile (connected) photographers/ artists within our community.
1000 Words is titled under the premise that “a photograph says a 1000 words.”
We Are Juxt believes that mobile photographers/ artists tell stories through the photographs/ images and art that represents their families, their environment, themselves. This is important because of the level of communication that is portrayed in imaging today.
We look forward to you and your art. We thank you for your contribution to the mobile photography/ arts community. To view the 1000 Words gallery go here and feel free to add your own images. This gallery is curated by Ryan V.

The background story of this photo is playing with human mood: “fatigue, hopeless, and despair, someone who wants to escape from this world.” It was aken and edit on iPhone3GS, using ProCamera, Halftones, TouchRetouch, Foolproof, Noir Photo, Superimpose, Icolorama-S and Photo Power.

Curbside by Juliana Longiotti
As I was out walking my dog on the first day of this year, I discovered this discarded Christmas tree by the curb. It made me melancholy to see it there in its naked state, symbolizing the end of the holiday season and also the disposable nature of the world. This photo was taken with Hipstamatic using Tinto 1848, C-Type Plate and the flash off.

This photo is image 1 in my “You cannot move with a chair,” series. In this series I want to explore the notion that we can’t move through life with someone who is discouraged, fearful, and static. If you want to move, you have to leave this chair/person. When we look at the end of the series,we see a naked person, without the chair and clothes. Freedom ! For this work I used the Snapseed and Art Rage apps, that’s all.

Weary Traveller [Explored] by Andy^C
This shot was taken on my regular train commute home and this guy was sitting in front of me. His face really caught the harsh light of the train, which contrasted nicely against his dark clothes and hat and that’s what really grabbed my attention. The shot was taken with Hipstamatic and the Tinto 1884 lens and D-Type Plate film combo. I cropped the border off (not a big fan of Hipsta’s borders) and then just added a bit more blur and vignette to the background using Snapeed.

Jona by Pirmin Föllmi (iphotography.ch)
Jona is a small town in Switzerland at the Zürichsee. For this Photo i used Camera+ and two filters from the MagicHour App.

Walking Small by lee.thatcher
Regarding the walking small shot. I was just out land about seeing what damage I could do with my iPhone in the fading light on a wet and windy new years eve and I saw this guy walking down the street. I waited until he was against a light background and took the shot. It wasn’t until I got home and noticed his shadow that I had the idea to crop it and rotate the shot 180 degrees to use the shadow as the main subject. The image shot with Hueless on the iPhone5. It was cropped and rotated in Snapseed, and a little more shadow added to the top of the shot with Noir.

Dingy by DZine_
This particular shot was taken one morning as I was taking advantage of some foggy conditions, which tend to be quite rare where I live. During the morning I was inspired to try out a few different Hipstamatic lens and film combos, something I’ve not really given much thought to before. I found that most of the black and white combos I tried had the best impact on the foggy conditions, adding some real depth to the shots. This shot was taken using the JohnS lens and BlacKeys B+W film.
